Hi, I’m Messina.
I’m comfortable working with clients across the lifespan, but I work best with those who have historically felt misunderstood and unheard and even those who are distrustful of the therapy process. With that in mind, I aim to make each client feel special and empowered during and after their time with me. I enjoy talking about “hard things” or even “taboo” things and encourage my clients to use their time with me in whatever way they need. I don’t believe that progress is linear, and I am interested in meeting my client where they are with their goals even if the starting point is simply making an appointment and showing up.
I have a heart for the underdog and firmly believe that all people have strengths. I have exhibited this throughout my clinical and leadership roles in mental health nonprofits, school-based therapy, and the judicial system. This includes experience with individuals living with mental health symptoms and supporting their loved ones in their new dynamic.
My areas of expertise include: ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Body Positivity, Borderline Personality (BPD), Coping Skills, Depression, Emotional Disturbance, Impulse Control Disorders, Mood Disorders, Open Relationships Non-Monogamy, Personality Disorders, Relationship Issues, Self Esteem, Self-Harming, Sexual Abuse, Stress, Suicidal Ideation, Transgender, and Women’s Issues
