Hi, I’m Ismael.
You can call me Ish — a therapist who helps people make sense of their story and move toward a life that feels meaningful and self-directed.
Many of my clients come in feeling stuck — unsure of their next steps, overwhelmed by expectations, or caught between who they’ve been and who they want to become. Whether it’s navigating career transitions, managing anxiety, depression, or finding purpose, I work with you to uncover the values and stories that truly matter.
My approach draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Narrative Therapy. Together, we notice the thoughts and self-stories that might be keeping you stuck, while practicing new ways of responding with openness and compassion. Rather than trying to “fix” you, our work focuses on helping you live more fully — even when life feels uncertain.
With a background in career development and student counseling, I also support people exploring identity and direction — from college students figuring out their next chapter to professionals reimagining what fulfillment looks like. I believe growth happens when we align our choices with what matters most to us.
Clients often describe me as calm, curious, and grounding. In session, I aim to create a space where you feel understood and capable — a place to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with your own wisdom.
Outside of work, you’ll find me attending film festivals, comic con, or reading a wide genre of stories — I tend to draw themes of art from film and other forms of narrative art into my work in therapy.
If you’re ready to step out of old patterns and move toward a more values-driven life, I’d be honored to support you on that path.
